New Orleans bounce music is going mainstream on the second season of Fuse’s most-watched original docu-series Big Freedia. So when Fuse came to us to conceptualize and shoot the launch campaign and key art portraits down in Freedia’s hometown we had to make a decision… go big or go home.
We immediately started brainstorming and scripting, and brought on board Robert Hales, one of our world class directors who’s worked with JT, Miley and Alicia Keyes, to lead our live action creative team. We also enlisted the creative genius of legendary portrait photographer, Art Streiber to capture the still images of Freedia and her cast. They had some spectacular ideas to establish Freedia as the true diva she is, and for making sure the city of New Orleans shined just as much as the star herself.
Everything about the shoot was epic: the vibe in the Tremé, in the streets where bounce was born. The neighbors who, upon hearing the music, showed us just how big a part bounce plays in New Orleans as they came out came out on their front porches to dance in support one of their own. Even the crew twerked it behind the scenes.
