Mark A. Ritchie has directed and executive produced Primetime Television, Concert Films, Live Music Events, Fashion Films and unique special events around the globe. He is a multi-award-winning creative visionary, with an impressive roster of notable large-scale projects and films to his name.
He’s known to cultivate a creative ecosystem within every project. His attention to detail, specific modalities including camera angles and lens choices, coupled with a wealth of storytelling techniques, and his constant embracing of new technologies has earned him a spot in the best breed. His experience not only spans decades, but continents, genres, and all media platforms.
In 2020, Ritchie earned an Emmy® for his role as Executive Producer and Director on the Netflix Original, Oprah Presents: When They See Us Now. Mark returned to Netflix again to EP and Direct Felipe Esparza’s Bad Decisions stand-up comedy specials, which also marked the first time Netflix simultaneously released a multi-language comedy special from one comedian.
In 2018, Ritchie was tapped by Beyoncé to film her much anticipated return to Coachella, which ultimately became Netflix’s critically acclaimed and Grammy winning special, Homecoming. He then went on to direct Beyoncé and Jay Z’s visually stunning global tour, “On the Run II,” for a total of forty-nine live stadium performances, which grossed over $250,000,000 across eighteen countries.
Mark does much of his best work when the stakes are highest which has also led to major collaborations with luminaries of the New York fashion industry, including: Cartier, Ralph Lauren (w/ Janelle Monae + Chance the Rapper), H&M (Alexander Wang + Balmain), plus Kanye West’s YEEZY Seasons 1 and 2, with season 3 live from Madison Square Gardens, coinciding with Kanye’s album drop.
Other notable projects include: David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction featuring Jerry Seinfeld & Zack Galafinakis; the Madonna MDNA concert film for EPIX; virtual concerts for Katy Perry & Steve Aoki at Tomorrowland 2020; and Yoshiki: Under the Sky, a YouTube Originals global event featuring Marilyn Manson, The Chainsmokers, St. Vincent, and more.
